Raw materials produced by Elchi are organic filled materials: Phenol Resins, Melamine, and Polyester, mixed with graphite-mineral minerals, glass, various fibres and other materials. Unique Technical Characteristics Elchi moulding compounds have dimensional stability, low liquid absorption, low friction coefficient, auto-lubrificant proprieties and high chemical compatibility with gas, oils and hydrocarbons. Elchi is providing SMI with high technology from studying and producing suited high quality raw materials enabling SMI to produce highly technical articles with peculiar characteristics. A market standard Products based on phenol resin, as the worldwide known Delgra, from Elchi srl became a real standard worldwide for gas meter and gas regulators but also for petrol pump and other technical articles. Moulded articles can be lapped and finished up to real tolerances of 4-5 micron, allowing optimal fit of gas and fuel meter measuring heart. 1974: Production of DELSI class materials, high percentage mineral molding compound. 1982: DELGRA (PF) material first formulation is developed. 1986: Esthetic melamine (MF) material MELCAM. 1993: Polyester compound (UP) POLYDUR formulation is defined. 1998: ELCHI is UNI EN ISO 9001:1994 certified by DNV - Det Norske Veritas. 2000: DURALITE, MELCAM and POLYDUR are UL 94 V0 certified by UL - Underwriters Laboratories. Moulding compounds produced by Elchi and by other high quality European producers are chosen by SMI for Thermoplastic and Thermosetting SMI production lines.
